IHU SEPSIS aims to transform sepsis management through personalized medicine, new technologies, and close collaboration among researchers, clinicians, patients, and industry partners.
Improving Sepsis Management Through a Center of Excellence Dedicated to Sepsis Research and Care
A Core Ambition: Precision Medicine
Every patient responds differently to an infection. IHU SEPSIS seeks to develop precision medicine capable of tailoring treatments to each individual based on their biological characteristics, immune response, and the specific microorganism causing the infection.
Thanks to advances in biology, data analysis, and artificial intelligence, it is now possible to better understand the mechanisms underlying sepsis and to offer more targeted, effective treatments.
An Integrated Research and Care Center
IHU SEPSIS brings together experts from a wide range of fields—intensive care, infectious diseases, immunology, microbiology, public health, and data science—to rapidly translate scientific discoveries into concrete solutions for patients.
The goal is to establish a translational research hub where scientific breakthroughs can be directly tested and applied in clinical practice.
Concrete Objectives
The project specifically aims to:
- Better understand how an infection progresses into sepsis;
- Identify distinct patient profiles in order to tailor treatments;
- Develop rapid diagnostic tests based on biomarkers;
- Design new treatments and preventative strategies;
- Improve the monitoring of infections and their transmission.
By bridging research, innovation, and clinical care, IHU SEPSIS aims to become an international center of excellence in the fight against sepsis, benefiting both patients and public health. Ultimately, the institute’s ambition is to halve the mortality and long-term after-effects associated with sepsis.
