According to the WHO, sepsis affects around 50 million people worldwide each year (including 20 million children under the age of five) and causes nearly 11 million deaths, accounting for almost one-fifth of global mortality.

On April 29th, IHU SEPSIS had the distinct pleasure of welcoming the members of the International Scientific Advisory Board (iSAB) to Paris, in the magnificent setting of the Salons de l'Aéro-Club de France.

On April 28th, IHU SEPSIS, in collaboration with OI MICROBES, hosted a PhD & Postdoctoral Research Day at the Paris-Saclay Faculty of Medicine in Le Kremlin-Bicêtre. Around thirty PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and interns from various disciplines gathered to share ideas and present their work related to microbial sciences and sepsis.

The postdoctoral researcher will work in Unit 1176, Hemostasis Inflammation Thrombosis (HITh), INSERM/University Paris-Saclay, Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, France, in the group led by Delphine Borgel. This group focuses on the role of protein S in the regulation of thrombo-inflammation and immunothrombosis and is part of the IHU SEPSIS (Comprehensive Sepsis Center).

The latest recommendations from the Surviving Sepsis Campaign for adults and children were published on March 23, 2026, in the journal Intensive Care Medicine.
